- I was born in Gillingham (Kent) Dec 21st 1945 and lived in London since 1985. A writer-librarian, I have battled with depression since childhood. Writing is as much a therapy for me as an art form. [Being a gay teenager in the 1950s and 60s was tough and being partially deaf did not help.] Although my poetry titles include poems on a gay theme among others and principal characters in my novel are often gay, I do not think of myself as a gay writer, but a writer who also happens to be gay. [My collections and some reviews are listed on amazon.co.uk under R. N. Taber. My novels - 'Blasphemy' and 'Sacrilege' (Books 1 & 2 of a planned trilogy) - and 'Catching up with Murder' are also listed under Roger Taber. Many (UK) public library networks stock my books or can supply on request. I like to think I am doing my bit to help boost the self-esteem of gay people as well as enlighten straight readers about what it means to be gay.
